A person who contaminated treats with sleeping medication and provided them to youngsters at a summer program in the area has admitted sexual offences against two children both nine and 10.

The accused was arrested after eight minors and one adult became sick at the location in the summer month.

The senior citizen, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the judicial center on Friday.

However, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was facing, which was against a nine-year-old child.

Ruben was remanded in custody prior to a subsequent court date on 28 November.

'Sweet game'

The legal representative, handling the case, detailed the defendant's actions to the court.

She stated his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a youth camp which he managed.

The defendant engaged in a "treat game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior explained, in which he would enter the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and ask them to eat sweets "as fast as possible".

She informed the proceedings the defendant had played this game with the young males "over an extended period", and minors had previously become sick the subsequent day.

She stated the defendant had been capable of justifying this for many years as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had suspicions in July 2025.

Mrs Prior KC added: "In the summer" his family member had suspicions about the situation, justifiably.

"They chose" to have a look in the man's possessions."

The prosecutor stated items including lubricant, ointment and injection devices were discovered, and his family member notified the authorities about his suspicions.

She explained the man proceeded to conduct the "sweet game" with six youngsters that time - July 26th - and they were all sick the following morning.

"Authorities" had not gone out by that point," she continued.

The regulatory agency, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was investigating the police response of the incident.

The legal representative explained the youngsters were having difficulty walking due to their condition, so the stepson contacted the police a second time.

She said the defendant then played the "treat game" in a room of five children.
