Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Warriors Group

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in strength within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Introduced

The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of characters who will split off from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

With a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

As described by the DM, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are rare.

Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might look mismatched, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, striking Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.

Casimir then cleared his obligations and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to depart the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the group reach places they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and Wicander defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This leaves them little choice but to travel to the northern region in search of Casimir.

Future Episodes

From episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Questers and Schemers groups.

Audiences can anticipate discovering which adventurers will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
